How We Share Data
We do not sell personal information. We share data only as needed to run Ballers, provide user-requested features, protect users, or comply with law.
- With other users: profile details, games, highlights, stats, posts, comments, messages, community activity, and share links may be visible to others depending on your settings, the communities you join, and the sharing actions you take.
- With service providers: we use providers for hosting, cloud storage, authentication, SMS delivery, push notifications, analytics, diagnostics, video processing, content moderation, and customer support.
- For safety and legal reasons: we may share information with law enforcement, safety organizations, regulators, or other parties when required by law or when needed to protect users and investigate abuse.
Permissions
Ballers asks for device permissions only when needed for app features. Camera and microphone access support recording basketball videos and profile photos. Photo library access supports saving and uploading clips or photos. Contacts access supports friend discovery and player invites. Location access supports nearby courts, gyms, games, and communities. Notifications support highlights-ready alerts, friend requests, community updates, and game updates.
Security
We use access controls, HTTPS, authentication, signed media URLs, limited employee access, and provider security controls to protect user data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect personal and sensitive user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and deletion.
Data Retention
- Account and profile data is retained while your account is active and until your account is deleted, unless we must keep limited records for legal, safety, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution reasons.
- Videos, highlights, photos, stats, games, posts, messages, and community content are retained while your account is active, until you delete the content where deletion is available, or until you request account deletion.
- Contacts data is retained until you delete imported contacts, turn off contact discovery where available, request deletion, or delete your account.
- Push tokens and notification preferences are retained while your account is active or until they become inactive, are replaced, or your account is deleted.
- Analytics, diagnostics, logs, and security records are generally retained for up to 90 days unless longer retention is needed for security, abuse prevention, debugging, legal compliance, or service reliability.
- Backups may retain deleted data for up to 90 days before the data is overwritten or permanently removed from backup systems.
- Legal and safety records, including child safety reports, moderation actions, abuse reports, and fraud prevention records, may be retained for as long as required or permitted by law, with account identifiers removed or minimized where appropriate.
